Venmo offers a quick, easy-to-use, and efficient service for all their users.

Managing your funds, making a transfer, or sending money to your friends is pretty easy on this platform.

It’s also crucial to access your transaction history in order to properly control your money from time to time.

But, if you want to delete Venmo transaction history on the app, then note that there are some important things you need to know.

In this new article on our site, we are going to provide you with all the precise information you need about the following matters:

  • How to delete Venmo History;
  • Do I need to close my Venmo account to delete Venmo transaction history?;
  • How to make your Venmo transaction history private.

3 Things You Need to Know About Your Venmo Transaction History

Venmo is a great alternative to pay or transfer money to any other person who has a Venmo account.

Making payments in the Venmo app is pretty easy, and it’s also possible to send the funds to your bank account if you please.

It should also be very easy to delete your Venmo transaction history, but before we get to that, take a look at the following information.

Pro Tip: You can Add Money to Venmo by paying a small fee transfer from the verified sender bank account.

In any case, it’s fundamental to have a Venmo Debit Card in order to make payments on the app by using these funds.

1. There Isn’t an Option to Entirely Delete Venmo Transaction History

You can’t directly delete Venmo transaction history.

Even though in most cases this information is entirely private and only you can access it, the platform still saves the information on your Venmo account.

In any case, your privacy concerns must be related to the public feed feature where all your transactions and each payment you make are shown.

You can learn more about Venmo’s policies on their official web page by clicking the following links: Transaction History for Business Profiles and General Information about Transaction History.

2. You Can Close Your Venmo Account

One way to get your Venmo transaction history permanently deleted is by clicking on the “Close Account” option.

There are plenty of other financial apps to choose from anyways, such as Paypal or Google Wallet.

In any case, if you want to close your account, keep in mind that you won’t be able to recover it.

Pro Tip: We’ve written a very detailed blog post where we show you how to Delete Venmo Account from your desktop computer in easy steps.

Read it to get precise information about how to properly delete your Venmo account.

Close Your Account and Permanently Delete Your History

Once you delete your Venmo account, the platform will send you a message to your email address which will contain your most recent statement.

They will keep that information for a while even if you delete your account, but we highly recommend saving that final email in case you need it.

3. You Can Change Venmo History Settings to “Private”

Since you can’t directly delete Venmo transaction history, the only way to hide your past transactions is to get rid of the “public feed” feature.

By default, Venmo shows your friends your transaction history if they access your profile.

That’s why some consider Venmo to be also like a social media platform where your friends and the users you add can indeed take a deeper look at your account page than you believe.

How to Delete Venmo Transactions

Just to get things straight here - we won’t delete the transactions since this is impossible.

Each payment you make will still be stored in your Venmo account.

The only alternative here is to hide each payment and transaction from any person who checks your profile.

Thus, only you will be able to see your transaction history at your will, but the info will still be saved by the platform.

Step 1: Log In to the Venmo App

In order to hide your transactions, you first need to log in to your Venmo account by typing in your email address and password in the app.

We are going to change your settings to “Private,” so follow these steps so you can adequately do this.

Step 2: Tap on the Hamburger Icon

Now, select the hamburger icon that appears at the top left corner of the screen.

As you know, this icon shows you lots of settings related to Venmo transactions and so on.

Step 3: Go to the Settings Page

Scroll down and select the “Settings Page” option.

New options and settings will appear on the screen, so you should select the one that will subsequently lead you to your transaction history.

Step 4: Find the “Default Privacy Settings” Option

Once you are here, you need to select “Privacy” to edit your Private Default Settings.

All your transactions are managed on this part of the menu.

Step 5: Tap on “Past Transactions”

Scroll to the bottom, and you will find the “Past Transactions” option.

As we mentioned before, your transaction history is not private by default.

Therefore, we need to change that ASAP.

Step 6: Select “Change All to Private”

Tapping on this option is almost the final step to “delete” your visible transactions to others once and for all.

A message that says “Change All to Private” will show up.

You need to select it in order to activate the private option in your account.

Nonetheless, this will only affect your past transactions and not the future ones, so it’s fundamental to change this as well.

Step 7: Go to “Privacy” Once Again and Tap “Change Anyway”

Go back to the Privacy Settings page and change your settings from Public to Private.

A confirmation prompt will pop up.

You need to select the “Change Anyway” option in this confirmation prompt in order to change your transaction history to private.

Now, each transaction you have made in the past and each transaction you make from now on won’t show up to anyone else - only you will be capable of seeing them in your profile.

So, sadly it isn’t possible to delete your transaction history in Venmo as you would want to, but this alternative is pretty great too.

Try it out!

Your transactions will be safe from now on.
