When you acquire a new NFT, you want to fully own it and have it under your control at all times, right?

Well, one of the best ways to do this is by storing NFTs in MetaMask.

MetaMask has proven to be a reliable wallet address for crypto and digital assets, so it makes sense to trust this mobile app for different purposes.

While you can add NFT to MetaMask easily, the truth is that some people in the MetaMask community have stated that their NFTs are not showing under the collectibles tab.

If you are facing this error, worry not - we have come to your rescue.

Adding NFTs to MetaMask

Using the NFT smart contract address, users can safely transfer their NFTs from OpenSea to MetaMask within just minutes.

Nowadays, people want to see the NFT that others own, and users want to display them.

That’s why we see improvements regarding each NFT token and social platforms, such as Twitter NFT Profiles Pictures.

Thus, when you add NFT, you want it to show up correctly on your wallet.

Otherwise, there isn’t real proof of ownership behind your asset, which is one of the main points of NFTs.

MetaMask Mobile Displays NFT’s Under Collectibles

Although the browser extension of the MetaMask wallet address can be used to add NFT, users can’t see them natively in the UI unless they use MetaMask mobile app.

The dev team is already improving NFT support on MetaMask extension, but as of today, MetaMask states that some NFTs might not show up correctly under the NFTs tab.

So, although MetaMask mobile displays NFTs on your account, it is possible not to see the NFT since it won’t show up correctly due to improvements needed both on MetaMask wallet mobile app and extension.

NFT Does Not Appear in MetaMask: Reasons and Fixes

Now you know it - the NFTs tab on your MetaMask Wallet must show the NFT natively in the UI if you are using MetaMask mobile version.

But the NFT tab might as well not show the NFT’s address and NFT’s ID if there’s a problem with the transaction. Check out the following fixes so you can get rid of this matter ASAP.

1. NFT Contract Address Ownership

Before thinking about contract’s address issues with the transaction, it’s imperative to use a block explorer to check if your NFT appears there.

Check the NFT Address on Etherscan

Etherscan is a very popular block explorer which you can use to verify if the NFT ownership has the correct information.

You need to put the NFT token ID in this block explorer.

In case you already put the address on Etherscan and it shows that the NFT’s address is valid and it belongs to you, then move on to the following fix.

2. You Are Using the MetaMask Extension

We cannot stress this enough - use MetaMask wallet on your phone for NFT purposes.

When it comes to NFTs, see them natively on the extension is not possible so far, so if you want to see the NFT, you better use MetaMask mobile on your mobile device instead.

Use the Mobile Version of MetaMask Wallet

Download MetaMask wallet on your phone, save your secret recovery phrase, and check the dedicated tab for NFT on the app.

Does your NFT appear there? It should. Otherwise, try the following fix.

3. You Are Adding the NFT to the Wrong MetaMask Account

MetaMask prompts users to verify they are using the correct wallet address on MetaMask before performing NFT transactions.

Remember that NFTs are nothing without ownership, so if you are using the wrong wallet account, then the NFT won’t appear - as simple as that.

4. Inconsistencies with NFT Unique Identifier

You might have typed in the wrong collectible ID and address on MetaMask.

If this is your problem, proceed as stated here.

Verify the Information on Your MetaMask and OpenSea Account

Remember that OpenSea is the main MetaMask’s data provider of NFTs information.

The unique identifier of the asset you input on MetaMask must be exactly the same as shown on OpenSea.

Likewise, all the information must match whatever appears on OpenSea.

Otherwise, the NFT won’t be added.

Can MetaMask Support Team Do Something About It?

No. Some people believe that submitting support tickets about missing NFTs to MetaMask can solve this problem, but that’s impossible.

The support team can provide you with the information you need to fix these matters (i.e., all the fixes we have presented to you), but they cannot recover NFTs by any means.

Anyhow, remember that MetaMask’s NFT support is still in a testing phase, so there’s a lot of improvement needed.

Do not despair - if your NFT appears to be alright on OpenSea, then it is a matter of time before you move it to MetaMask.
